My paintings, “Bow Tie” and “Solitude” will be on display at the eighth Annual Yonkers Artist Showcase which takes place at the Yonkers Riverfront Gallery from April 9 to May 27. The artist reception will be on Saturday, April 9 between 3 and 5 pm.
When I saw Gottfried Helnwein’s work, I was struck by how much it reminded me of my own paintings, especially the long and narrow format. According to what I’ve read, he’s portraying the loss of childhood innocence, something that my work also addresses. However, I can’t find any information about his process. There seems to be some question as to whether he paints these or takes photos and paints on top of them. Videos do not show him beginning a piece, only adding a brush stroke here and there to an image that appears to be finished. Does anyone have more information on this artist’s process? If so, I would really like to know it.
